SMARTconverter DC successfully in operation

Another step forward in an ambitious project: for the first time, a SMARTconverter DC has been successfully commissioned into a double-decker coach of Deutsche Bahn (DB). As part of an innovation project, this double-decker coach will receive new air conditioning systems using CO2 as a natural refrigerant, and an adapted auxiliary power converter with higher efficiency. Here the SMARTconverter DC is an essential building block. It provides significantly more power in the same installation space and generates fewer conversion losses due to the use of SiC semiconductors. The SMARTconverter DC is therefore particularly suitable for modernizations of rolling stock.
