SMARTconverter 3 for BEMU in the Niederrhein-Münsterland network

The vehicle manufacturer CAF has ordered 63 SMARTconverter 3 auxiliary power converters for new battery-electric multiple units (BEMU). The BEMUs will be used for the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Authority (VRR) and the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Transport Authority (NWL).

CAF is again using the proven SMARTconverter 3 for the regional multiple units of the Civity platform, which scores points for low energy consumption, high reliability and easy maintainability. Deliveries will start in 2023.
